my poem, graveyard
The air is sombre; a grey mist flows in,
For I am a survivor, of this evil sin.
I am a veteran, a killer, peacekeeper, I won,
I lived, through that grim time, while holding a gun.
The last post plays on, while I remain in salute,
Saluting the dead, in this blue and white suit.
My fellow comrades are all by my side,
The government, tells all we are full of pride.
Lies, untruth, slander, this could not possibly be true,
Our pride died alongside our dead friends, but they have no clue.
Some closer than others, while I silently try,
To cease my emotions, just not to cry.
I honour the flag, as it rises upon its spire,
The music is broken by the lone cannon fire.
Widows, friends, brothers, and orphans are here,
I feel sad for them, yet they know no fear.
The survivor’s families, may not give a shit,
For those who are dead, yet they all did their bit.
This place is horrid, vile and poor,
This is a burial, the aftermath of war.
so tell me what you think.
